Masella, in the heart of the Cerdanya, is one of the largest ski resorts in the Catalan Pyrenees, with 74 km of skiable terrain spread across 65 runs for every level. Its highest point, La Tosa, reaches 2,535 metres, while the base sits at Pla de Masella at 1,600 metres, giving a vertical drop of 935 metres and some of the most technical and demanding runs in the area. It is one of the few resorts in Spain with night skiing, and it also has a snowpark, cross-country skiing routes and an artificial snow system covering much of the ski area. It is linked by gondola and chairlift to neighbouring La Molina, and together they form Alp 2500, one of the largest ski areas in the Pyrenees.

Alpine skiing is the most popular way to enjoy the snow: skiing down marked slopes and using the lifts to go back up. You can learn at any age, and most children start from around 3 or 4, with instructors who specialise in teaching kids.
If it’s your first time, after 2 or 3 days of lessons you’ll usually be skiing green and blue runs with confidence. Private lessons progress faster because the instructor adapts entirely to you; group lessons are more affordable and perfect for learning alongside others, including children at a similar level. If you already ski, a lesson helps you polish your technique, gain confidence on red runs or try off-piste for the first time.
All you need is warm waterproof clothing, gloves and sunglasses or goggles. Skis, boots and helmets can be rented at the resort itself. On SnowTeach you can compare schools, choose your date and level, and book your lesson online in minutes.
