Baqueira Beret, in the Val d’Aran, has been the leading name in Pyrenean skiing since it opened in 1964. Its ski area adds up to 173 km of skiable terrain among forests and wide open slopes, with green, blue, red and black runs for every level plus off-piste itineraries, starting at 1,500 metres in altitude. It is divided into four sectors, each with its own personality: Beret brings together the sunniest, most accessible slopes, ideal for your first turns, and Pla de Beret has a cross-country skiing area; Baqueira, the heart of the resort, offers varied terrain to improve your level; and Bonaigua and Baciver, the highest sectors, hide the off-piste terrain for those looking for something wilder. A huge ski area with a single character: that of one of the most complete resorts in Spain.

Snowboarding means riding down the slopes with both feet strapped to a single board, and it’s the favourite choice for anyone looking for a freer, more creative style on the snow. You can learn at any age, although children usually start from around 7 or 8, once they have the strength and balance to control the board.
The first days are the most demanding: falling is normal while you learn to keep your balance and stop. But progress comes quickly, and after 2 or 3 days of lessons most people are linking turns on easy runs. With private lessons the instructor corrects your stance from the very start; group lessons are more affordable and really motivating for learning with others. If you can already get by, a lesson helps you refine your technique, tackle harder runs or get started in the snowpark.
All you need is warm waterproof clothing, gloves and sunglasses or goggles; wrist guards are also recommended for the first few days. The board, boots and helmet can be rented at the resort itself. On SnowTeach you can compare schools, choose your date and level, and book your lesson online in minutes.
